Facilitated by The Conference Board of Canada, the Future Skills Centre Regional Soundings Tour aims to bring together Canadians who are actively engaged in the country’s skills and training community, as well as individuals interested in learning more about skills development and the future of work. These events will be rolled out across the country, in communities in every province and territory.

We want to hear how the Future Skills Centre can best address diverse future skills needs and structure our operations and activities to ensure responsiveness to local priorities. Join us for our Regional Soundings Tour to help inform our research and innovation investment strategies.

Projects to Support Mid-career Workers

On July 9, we announced the ten projects that were selected under the open call for projects supporting mid-career workers.

Many of the funded projects engage mid-career workers in specific sectors — such as oil and gas workers, truck drivers, auto workers, cashiers, and meat processing workers — that are experiencing, or at risk of, displacement. These projects will test innovative approaches to training and mid-career transitions into higher-growth sectors and job opportunities. Other projects are looking at common denominator barriers to successful career transitions and how to improve current services.

Stay tuned! Our next call for proposals will launch next month

To determine the themes of our next call, we are consulting widely with stakeholders from across the skills development ecosystem. Thank you to everyone who participated in our online survey!
