We want to hear from you: How can the Future Skills Centre best meet the diverse skills needs of your region?
The Regional Soundings Tour will include events across the country, which are designed to listen to and learn from Canadians from coast to coast to coast who are engaged or interested in the skills and training community.
Your contributions will help inform our research agenda, approaches to knowledge mobilization, and our innovation investment strategy.

The Future Skills Centre is now accepting proposals that address one of these three questions:
- How can we best support Canadians facing labour market disruption to transition to new jobs or industries?
- How can employers be more effectively engaged in developing and delivering demand-driven solutions to skills gap challenges?
- How can skills development systems be optimized, building up the capacity of service providers and encouraging collaboration between organizations?
We encourage diverse organizations from across the country to submit a Letter of Interest by September 16, 2019, 5pm EDT.

Pedro Barata, our incoming Executive Director, recently spoke with The Logic about the Future Skills Centre's mandate and the work that is already underway.
"Public investment in training that is smart, demand-driven, and understands what’s happening in the economy is the new reality in a state where people are going to be shifting jobs and industries."

We wish to extend our sincerest gratitude to Mel Wright, our fearless Interim Executive Director, for her incredible leadership of the Future Skills Centre over the past ten months.
Mel’s hard work, dedication, and guidance got the Future Skills Centre off the ground and thriving. During her tenure, the Centre became fully operational and found a home in Regent Park with permanent staff. Mel led the process for selecting our first 16 innovation projects across the country, backed by an investment of $19M over two years. She also led the launch of our second call for proposals, which will infuse an additional $30M in innovation projects.
Mel worked tirelessly with our partners to build relationships with hundreds of stakeholders across the country. Among her many other remarkable accomplishments, she was also a dedicated colleague and mentor to staff and colleagues.
Thank you, Mel. We will miss you!
