The Director, Communications plays a pivotal role in providing leadership for strategic communications planning and public engagement for the Centre. The Director leads the implementation of communications strategies and plans for the Future Skills Centre and leads activities related to brand, messaging and organizational positioning, content development, promotions, social media, web design and tool development that promote FSC’s brand and profile. The Director works in close collaboration with FSC consortium partners to ensure brand alignment and strategic coordination of FSC products and strategies that are executed by the consortium’s partners. The Director collaborates with Management colleagues to ensure alignment between communications, stakeholder outreach, research strategies and all partnerships, including funded innovation pilots. This role oversees the development of all communications, brand materials, products and translation services in both the English and French languages. Ensuring timely communication, a deliberate brand presence, meaningful outreach and engagement and development of effective dissemination vehicles are key responsibilities of the Director. Reporting to the Executive Director, this leadership role supervises unilingual and bilingual communications and marketing staff and manages the workflow of external agencies and freelance writers who support FSC’s deliverables.

As the ideal candidate, you are a professional and passionate communications leader with a strong background in the public, private or broader public sector and at least 7 years in a leadership role, including experience leading and managing staff. You possess a degree in a related field (Communications, Public Relations, Marketing) and have experience leading strategic communications planning and brand strategies. You are highly skilled at developing and implementing communications strategies and have overseen the deployment of communications programs, activities and products. You understand brand positioning and the importance of brand recognition and awareness in a marketing context. You are experienced in stakeholder communications and knowledge mobilization and dissemination and bring strong media relations skills. You are adept at using communications as an enabler to build awareness, establish relationships and partnerships and engage key audiences. You are skilled at developing broad networks and managing relationships with internal and external partners across Canada and have the ability to engage diverse audiences and communicate to a variety of stakeholders with tact and diplomacy. Skilled at fostering a work environment and culture characterized by innovation, professionalism, collaboration, inclusivity, continuous learning and accountability, you are able to inspire, engage, and motivate others. We are seeking a highly experienced leader to provide oversight of operational, financial, human resources, procurement administration, and facilities management for the Future Skills Centre (FSC). In collaboration with the FSC management team and consortium partners, the Director, Operations will support the strategic planning process and contribute to the development of short to long-term strategies related to execution of the FSC’s mandate. Additionally, the Director may act or oversee the Board Secretary for Board and Committee meetings on behalf of the Centre, and represent the Executive Director, in coordination with OVPRI senior leadership at OVPRI, consortium partners, and federal funding partners on matters related to long-term financial/human resources/operational planning matters.

We are seeking a strategic leader to provide direction and oversight on the execution of innovation projects including design, funding, replication, testing and scaling to align with the goals and objectives of the Future Skills Centre (FSC). As the Director of Innovation Programs, you will manage the Call for Proposals and selection process, determine project scope, direction, operational plan development, critical paths, operating calls, allocation of resources and funding, timelines monitoring and adjustment activities through execution cycle to completion. Using your strong interpersonal skills you will develop and expand a Pan-Canadian, cross sectoral network of diverse partners and external stakeholders to foster innovation projects across Canada. You will also lead the development and implementation of a capacity building and technical support strategy to foster innovation in skills development.

We are seeking a highly experienced professional to provide executive level and organizational support to the Executive Director, Future Skills Centre (FSC), Office of the Vice President, Research and Innovation (OVPRI). As the Administrative Coordinator, you will monitor the Executive Director’s work calendar, scheduling of meetings and appointments; develop a range of professional materials/documents for senior management meetings and manages the operational administration of the executive office. You will establish and maintain rapport and relationships with peers working with partner organization executives. On behalf of the Executive Director, you will coordinate and prioritize confidential, urgent and sensitive communications, correspondence and documents, and track key metrics regarding engagement, influence and outreach related activities.

The Future Skills Centre – Centre des compétences futures (FSC-CCF) is a forward-thinking research centre with a focus on how best to prepare Canadians today for workforce opportunities of the future. It brings together expertise from multiple sectors and leverages experience from partners across the country to test and rigorously measure innovative approaches to identify emerging in-demand skills, and help Canadians develop the skills they need to take full advantage of and succeed in the new economy. The FSC-CCF is a partnership of Ryerson University, The Conference Board of Canada and Blueprint.
